Regulation of PV-Battery Units for Self-Consumption in Germany

IET – International Energy Transition GmbH coordinated a project that analysed options for regulating non-incentivised PV-battery systems in the German electricity market. The project included an analysis of potential usages of PV-battery systems (i.e. increase of self-use ratio; peak demand shaving; participation in balancing energy markets; etc) and potential legal and technical regulations to reduce the impact of those systems on the electricity network. The project was commissioned by the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and executed by Consentec, R2B and SUER.
