Electricity market design for increasing shares of distributed generation (Ontario, Canada)

IET – International Energy Transition GmbH provided an analysis of future drivers and trends affecting the development of the electricity and energy sector in Ontario, Canada. Based on lessons learned from leading countries with high shares of distributed generation and variable renewable energy sources, policy options for Ontario were put forward. This report primarily focused on innovative policies and regulation in Germany and the US. However experiences and innovations from other jurisdictions (e.g., Denmark, France, Mexico, etc.) were also included. Four major categories of drivers and trends were covered: The New Energy Customer, Meeting Energy Demand Behind the Meter, Grid Modernization and Utility of the Future, and The Future of Centralized Supply.  The project was executed in cooperation with Meister Consultants Group.
